Qual foi a pior coisa destas que já vos disseram? E conseguiram dar resposta à altura? Qual? Podemos sempre tentar criar um mini manual de como responder a este tipo de comentários feito por pessoas... aaaah... pessoas!!

É? Is it?

No meu caso, na maior parte do tempo sim. Mas verdade seja dita que nos últimos tempos reparei que já não passo tanto tempo agarrada a esses pensamentos e ideias e de certa forma, e de uma maneira ainda muito subtil também notei uma diminuição por parte dos outros em fazer-me relembrar que não me enquadro nas "medidas" actualmente aceitáveis na sociedade em que vivo.
:)

O que acham destas modelos?
Não me parecem muito envergonhadas com o corpo.
Atitude! É isso que muitas vezes nos valoriza perante os outros. E estas raparigas têm muita :D

In my case, most of the time yes. But truth be told lately, I noticed that I no longer spend so much time clinging to those thoughts and ideas in a very subtle way I also noticed a decrease by others in making me remember that I do not fit in the "measures" that are currently acceptable in the society which I live in.

Para ler e aplaudir em pé!!
Carta de uma grande mulher (Jes), após as declarações preconceituosas do CEO de uma cadeia de lojas de roupa, a Abercrombie & Fitch, que declarou que a linha de orientação da marca era para vestir a malta fixe e eliminou os tamanhos grandes.

A resposta da Jes é brilhante, tanto na carta como na sessão fotográfica que fez com um modelo masculino, imitando as campanhas da Abercrombie & Fitch, mas com um twist ;)

I know you've been flooded with mail regarding your comments on sizeism, but I wanted to take a second to write you about a project I've been working on.

As a preface: Your opinion isn't shocking; millions share the same sentiment. You've used your wealth and public platform to echo what many already say. However, it’s important you know that regardless of the numbers on your tax forms, your comments don't stop anyone from being who they are; the world is progressing in inclusive ways whether you deem it cool or not. The only thing you've done through your comments (about thin being beautiful and only offering XL and XXL in your stores for men) is reinforce the unoriginal concept that fat women are social failures, valueless, and undesirable. Your apology doesn't change this.

Well, actually, that's not all you have done. You have also created an incredible opportunity for social change.

Never in our culture do we see sexy photo shoots that pair short, fat, unconventional models with not short, not fat, professional models. To put it in your words: "unpopular kids" with "cool kids". It's socially acceptable for same to be paired with same, but never are contrasting bodies positively mixed in the world of advertisement. The juxtaposition of uncommonly paired bodies is visually jarring, and, even though I wish it didn’t, it causes viewers to feel uncomfortable. This is largely attributed to companies like yours that perpetuate the thought that fat women are not beautiful. This is inaccurate, but if someone were to look through your infamous catalog, they wouldn't believe me.

I've enclosed some images for your consideration. Please let me know what you think.

A note: I didn't take these pictures to show that the male model found me attractive, or that the photographer found me photogenic, or to prove that you're an ostentatious dick. Rather, I was inspired by the opportunity to show that I am secure in my skin and to flaunt this by using the controversial platform that you created. I challenge the separation of attractive and fat, and I assert that they are compatible regardless of what you believe. Not only do I know that I'm sexy, but I also have the confidence to pose nude in ways you don’t dare. You are more than welcome to prove me wrong by posing shirtless with a hot fat chick; it would thrill me to see such a shoot.

I'm sure you didn't intend for this to be the outcome, but in many ways you're kind of brilliant. Not only are you a marketing genius (brand exclusivity really is a profitable move) but you also accidentally created an opportunity to challenge our current social construct. My hope is that the combination of these contrasting bodies will someday be as ubiquitous as the socially accepted ideal.

Momento BOAS NOTÍCIAS

Um nutricionista escocês criou uma pizza mais saudável que uma salada.

Para quem é apologista de uma alimentação saudável como eu (apesar de nem sempre seguir isso, quem é que estou a tentar enganar... na maior parte das vezes...), confesso que a ideia de comer coisas que gosto e que habitualmente são consideradas pouco saudáveis, serem reinventadas de forma a proporcionar nutrientes necessários e a suprimir as coisas menos boas para o nosso organismo soa-me muito bem. No entanto, também receio as coisas muito alteradas e processadas, nas quais nem sempre se consegue perceber se há ou não malefícios associados.
De qualquer maneira gostava de provar a pizza porque bom aspecto tem ela ;)

Roupa interior, a busca quase impossível!

Nas lojas que eu frequento parece ser quase impossível comprar roupa interior para mulheres que não sejam uma tábua!! Farta disto resolvi procurar na internet. Enquanto via uma loja deparei-me com isto:
Mulher XL ADOREI  o blog :)

Quem estiver no Porto ou arredores dê uma olhadinha à curta-metragem "Balança" parece-me muito interessante a sua história e objectivo. Representa aquilo em que eu acredito e que quero mudar em mim.

Já agora fica também aqui o site que estava a ver, A Gordinha Sexy, apesar de não ter aquilo que eu quero, tem coisas interessantes ;)

Olá!
Antes de mais queiram-me desculpar mas não nasci com o dom da palavra por isso não esperem um discurso cheio de floreados e sons melodiosos que surjam na vossa cabeça só de ler qualquer coisa.
Se calhar devia começar por dizer como surgiu a ideia para este blog. Ora bem, basicamente foi baseado na minha vida pessoal e na luta diária e exaustiva para tentar gostar de mim e nomeadamente do meu corpo, sendo eu uma pessoa de medidas largas. A isso juntaram-se uma série de sinais do Universo que tentei ignorar, e claro que o meu "diabinho" interno passou a vida a dizer "oh, não vale a pena", "não sejas ridícula", "ninguém vai ler ou querer saber disso", "vais ter trabalho desnecessário e vais ver que te vais desiludir". Felizmente consegui derrotar estas ideias que tendem a querer comandar a minha vida. Eu quero mudar!! Encaro este blog como uma terapia para mim e se fizer alguma diferença positiva na vida de mais alguém, já posso morrer feliz :)
Ah pois... ainda não disse do que se tratava. Basicamente gostava de poder partilhar algumas ideias, fotos, músicas, etc relacionadas com mulheres, essencialmente mulheres de tamanho XL (não é obrigatório ok?!) e valorizá-las. No fundo, o que eu pretendo é mudar a forma como vejo a beleza e procurar gostar de mim exactamente como sou, apesar de tudo à minha volta gritar que não sou ninguém porque estou longe de ser como as modelos das revistas. Espero do fundo do coração não mudar sozinha.

First of all I want to apologize but I was not born with the gift of speech so do not expect flowery words full of melodious sounds that arise in your head just by reading something.
Perhaps I should start by saying how did the idea emerged. Well, basically it was based on my personal life and the daily struggle to try and thorough like me and especially my body, I being a person of broad measures. To that joined a number of signs from the Universe that I tried to ignore, and of course my "little inside devil" spent his life saying "oh, not worth it", "don´t be ridiculous", "nobody will want to read about it ", "you'll have unnecessary work and you'll see that you'll be disappointed." Fortunately I managed to defeat these ideas that tend to control my life. I want to change! I see this blog as a therapy for me, and if it makes any positive difference in the life of someone else, I will die happy :)
Oh yeah ... I still haven't said what it was. Basically I wish I could share some ideas, photos, music, etc. related to women, especially women of size XL (not mandatory ok?!) And value them. Basically, what I want is to change the way I see beauty and try to like me exactly as I am, despite everything around me screaming that I am nobody because I'm far from being like the models on the magazines. I hope with all my heart not to change alone.
